Luis Guillorme isn’t known for his power, and he knows that.
Coming into Monday’s massive matchup with the Braves holding just one home run to his name on the season, Guillorme was able to treat himself to the rare enjoyment of flipping his bat after knowing without a doubt that he got all of a home run.
Seeking insurance in the top of the eighth, Guillorme blasted a 379-foot homer to right off of Atlanta reliever Darren O’Day, giving the Mets a 3-1 lead and giving Guillorme a chance to enjoy one of his only no-doubters.
“I think sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good,” Guillorme said. “I was just trying to put a good swing on the ball and get on base.
“It doesn’t happen very often for me, but I did on that one.”
