Taijuan Walker will be part of the Mets’ Wild Card Series roster after all.
According to Newsday’s Tim Healey, the righty will be added to the postseason roster in place of reliever Joely Rodriguez, who is being removed because of a shoulder issue.
Walker pitched to a 3.49 ERA in 29 starts this season, but was left off the Wild Card Series roster with Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom, and Chris Bassitt locked in as the probable starters for the three-game set. But with Rodriguez going down, Walker was added and will likely only be used in an emergency role, likely mop-up duty that would mean disaster for New York, or an extra-inning marathon like what the Guardians and Rays showcased on Saturday afternoon.
