Mets announce when Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom will make spring training debuts

Mets fans wondering when they will get to see Max Scherzer pitch in a Mets uniform for the first time, manager Buck Showalter gave them an answer on Thursday.

Speaking after the team's workout, Showalter revealed the pitching probables for New York's first four spring training games, and both Scherzer and Jacob deGrom are among them.

Josh Walker is slated to start the team's spring training opener on Saturday against the Nationals, while David Peterson will get the ball on Sunday against St. Louis. Monday belongs to Scherzer, who will stare down the Marlins, and deGrom is scheduled to go on Tuesday against the Astros.

For deGrom, it will be his first time facing opponents in a game setting since being shut down for the season after July 7 of last year.

Scherzer's start on Monday is scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. start, while deGrom's will come at 6:10 p.m.
