Max Scherzer has no worries about reputation after suspension: 'Players understand'

With Max Scherzer accepting his 10-game suspension, and home plate umpire Dan Bellino telling reporters that Scherzer's hand was the stickiest he's seen since inspections became a mandate, is the future Hall of Famer worried that his reputation has been tainted?

The short answer: not at all.

"I faced the Dodgers, I know those guys," Scherzer said. "I told them 'Hey, this is what I did.' They understood. They know me."

Scherzer clearly isn't a fan of how the inspections are conducted, and called out the process as faulty, but he was no worries at all about his image across the league, not after helping represent the players during labor negotiations, and establishing his reputation over a 16-year career.

"I got my reputation in the game," Scherzer said. "The players understand. Players understand this. Players understand what I did, they know what I'm about."
