Daniel Vogelbach's Mets career is likely over.
According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, New York has non-tendered the regular DH, making him a free agent and eligible to sign with any MLB club. Vogelbach could sign a deal to return to the Mets, but that seems highly unlikely.
The 30-year-old struggled throughout his Mets tenure since arriving at the trade deadline in 2022. This past season, he hit just .233 with 13 home runs. Vogelbach struggled badly to begin the season, and was given a mental break by the team to reset. While his numbers improved down the stretch, his numbers as a whole with New York were not nearly productive enough for a full-time DH.
Now, part of David Stearns' first offseason with the Mets will be to find an upgrade at the designated hitter spot.
