The New York Mets announced Friday that they have non-tendered RHP Grant Hartwig, LHP Alex Young, and outfielder Alex Ramirez, and agreed to a one-year deal with RHP Sean Reid-Foley to avoid arbitration.
Young, 31, was the only one of the three non-tenders in arbitration eligibility, and he was projected for a $1.4 million salary by MLB Trade Rumors’ matrix. He was claimed off waivers in July and appeared in 14 games, posting a 3.29 ERA in 13 2/3 innings.
Hartwig, 26, allowed five earned runs in 6 2/3 innings over four appearances in three MLB stints this season. Ramirez, 21, was a Top 100 prospect prior to 2023, but he slashed just .210/.291/.299 with five home runs, 46 RBI, and 40 steals in 123 games at Double-A Binghamton last year. Both players have multiple minor-league options remaining.
Reid-Foley, 29, was projected for $900K by MLBTR in his first trip through arbitration. Injuries limited him to 23 appearances last year, but he had a sparkling 1.66 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings.
