The Mets are reportedly bringing back pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.
The 36-year-old has been New York's pitching coach since the 2020 season, overseeing a staff that has included two of the best starters in the league in Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer, and arguably the best closer in the league last season in Edwin Diaz.
The Mets' collective ERA has improved in each passing season under Hefner's watch, including improving by more than a full run from 2020 to 2021.
Puma also noted that most of Showalter's coaching staff is under contract for next season.
