The Mets have another entry to their long list of players that have spent time on the IL.
This time, it's one of their newest contributors in Javier Baez, who was placed on the 10-day IL on Friday with back spasms. The move is retroactive to Aug. 12.
Baez left Sunday's game against the Phillies with hip tightness and hadn't been in the starting lineup since. He came off the bench on Tuesday against the Nationals and struck out in his lone plate appearance.
Baez has struggled since arriving to New York, recording six hits in 35 at-bats, good for a .171 average. He has struck out 14 times in that span.
Travis Blankenhorn was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
