Trevor May told reporters after Monday’s loss that he didn’t feel 100 percent, and was hoping an MRI on Tuesday would shed some light on to why he was struggling to perform at the top of his game.
The MRI revealed right triceps inflammation, and the reliever is headed to the 15-day IL.

May, who has allowed earned runs in five of his eight appearances so far this season after allowing another two on Monday, has an ERA of 8.64 on the season, and vented his frustration with his early-season struggles, and said he wasn’t feeling his best on Monday against the Braves.
“I’m not feeling 100 percent healthy,” May said Monday. “Trying to work through some stuff. Not really battling through it. It’s hard to compete when you’re just worried if something is going to hurt when you throw, to the point where I’m not very comfortable throwing my best pitches and taking too much time in between pitches to reset and try to get a little bit of energy to throw another one.”
Adonis Medina has been recalled from Syracuse to take May’s spot on the roster.
