Mets red-hot prospect Ronny Mauricio may be on his way to the IL after reportedly spraining his ankle in a collision at second base on Sunday.
Mauricio, who many Mets fans have clamored to see in the majors amid his dynamic bat in Triple-A, was covering second base on a steal attempt, and Rochester's Cody Wilson attempted to slide into the bag, but collided with Mauricio's ankle. Mauricio fell to his back in pain, but was able to walk off the field under his own power.
So far this season, Mauricio holds a .333 batting average and a .923 OPS with eight home runs.
