For the second straight day, a Mets Triple-A pitcher was ejected following a check for sticky substances.

Just one game after Dylan Bundy was tossed, Syracuse reliever Eric Orze was thrown out before he could even throw a single pitch during Thursday afternoon’s contest. Orze was running in from the bullpen when the umpiring crew converged on him near second base for a check, and he was thrown out after that check.

The consecutive ejections come after Yankees starter Domingo German was suspended for 10 games after he was thrown out following a substance check earlier this week, and not long after Mets starter Max Scherzer received the same suspension for the same reason after he was thrown out of a start in Los Angeles.

Early in the season, New York pitchers have had plenty of involvement with the league’s relatively new crackdowns.
