Wilson Ramos joined Evan Roberts on Saturday to discuss his start to life as a Met. The 31-year-old catcher joined the Mets on a two-year, $19 million deal in December.
Ramos views the Mets as a much-improved team with high aspirations.
"I picked this team because all the rotation we've got," Ramos said. "That strong rotation, those good arms, good bullpen. So, when they make a trade for (Robinson) Cano and (Edwin) Diaz, it made the team really strong. So, I want to win. I want to win the World Series. That was the reason I picked this team. That's a pretty strong team."
The two-time All-Star finished last season with the Philadelphia Phillies. In combined duty with the Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays, Ramos batted .306 with 15 home runs and 70 RBIs. His experience in the NL East could be of great benefit to the Amazins. Ramos previously spent seven seasons with the Washington Nationals.
"I think this is a good advantage for me and for my team because I know a lot of hitters in Washington and Philadelphia," Ramos said. "I know those guys really well. We can talk about all the pitchers, all the hitters. I've got all those tips in my mind. That's a good advantage for us."

The veteran backstop is also hoping his experience will rub off on the Mets' pitching staff.
"I'm very smart behind the plate," Ramos said. "I know how to call games. That's what I want to give to this rotation, to this pitching staff. I want to put all my experience behind the plate, call a good game. Because I've got really good experience behind the plate. I learned from the best. If I call a good game, if I put a zero on the scoreboard – my team will be good."
