Report: David Peterson to miss next start for Mets

The Mets' starting rotation depth continues to shrivel, and will be even more shorthanded in the short term.

According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, David Peterson will miss his next start after leaving Wednesday night's outing with right side discomfort. The team will await further tests on the lefty, but have already determined he will miss at least his next scheduled outing.

Peterson lasted just three innings on Wednesday against the Braves, getting shelled for eight hits and six runs in an eventual 20-2 blowout loss, but he had been pitching much better before that outing. In his three previous starts, he had allowed just two runs in 16.2 innings, lowering his season ERA from 6.32 to 4.95.

Peterson's next start would have been July 5.
