When the Diamondbacks and Cubs face off on Saturday, the Mets will have scouts in attendance, examining potential deadline moves like Kris Bryant.

According to Audacy MLB insider Jon Heyman, New York is one of several teams with scouts watching the game at Wrigley Field, with both Arizona and Chicago likely to sell at the trade deadline.

The Mets have been linked to Kris Bryant since he received a text from an unknown number welcoming him to New York before the season began. New York acting general manager Zack Scott has said third base is a position the team may look to upgrade, and Bryant is the most notable third baseman on the trade market. He is batting .262 with an .835 OPS and 16 home runs this season.

But the Cubs also have resurgent close Craig Kimbrel likely available, while Anthony Rizzo and Zach Davies are on expiring contracts. Eduardo Escobar is a versatile bat that could be made available by the Diamondbacks.

The Mets will likely continue to be busy over the next week, while the division rival Phillies are also expected to be at Saturday’s game, scouting potential upgrades as they sit four games back of the first-place Mets in the NL East.
