Sal doesn't want to hear complaints about Mets' travel, schedule

Buck Showalter noted on Wednesday that the Braves, who played at 1:00, had a head start on getting to New York while the Mets played at 4:00 in Washington before meeting Atlanta at Citi Field for a crucial five-game series.

Was it a sly remark from Showalter who possibly didn't love the discrepancy in start times, and in turn the travel schedules? If so, Sal didn't like the excuses at all.

"Buck, I don't want to hear it!" Sal said. "The Mets played at 4:00, caused me to work late, I worked until 12:00 last night…I'm on four hours sleep. I gotta produce for five hours. Your lousy ballclub can't go out there for three hours and beat the Braves? Come on now."

The trip from Washington to New York certainly isn't long, and Sal is sure that travel for the Mets is anything but uncomfortable.

"First class travel from Washington," Sal said. "This isn't 'Major League' on the Cleveland team's charter."
