Sal was a fan of Marcus Stroman when he first joined the Mets in 2019, and believed the righty got a bad break from the majority of the fanbase after sitting out the 2020 season.
"I always thought they unfairly were harsh on him when he got here…I always felt like he was vilified unjustly by Met fans," Sal said. "Met fans never really loved Stroman. Then the fighting on Twitter, all that stuff. Now, he goes to the Yankees, talked about how he always wanted to go to the Yankees, loved the Yankees. And he's already taken parting shots at the Mets since he moved on."
With that in mind, Sal says Stroman likely isn't done taking shots at the Mets now that he is a Yankee, and expects him to become the most "despised" player of all time in the eyes of Mets fans.
"I guarantee you, it's a matter of time before Stroman says something overly negative about Steve Cohen and the Mets organization," Sal said. "He is going to be most despised player ever by the Mets fanbase.
"I'm telling you, Met fans don't like him as it is. I think they're expecting him to take a dig or two. I'm telling you, he's gonna do it. I hope he doesn't."
