Taijuan Walker is officially now a Mets division rival after he was introduced as the newest member of the Phillies on Friday, but the righty made sure to send a heartfelt farewell to Mets fans after donning the red Philly stripes.

“To the New York Mets that welcomed me two seasons ago, I want to thank you for having me,” Walker posted on Instagram. “And a very special thanks to Steve and Alex [Cohen] for everything you did for me and my family.”

Walker signed a $72 million dollar deal with the Phillies, ending a two-year tenure in Queens that included an All-Star nod in 2021 and a collective 3.98 ERA over 316.1 innings of work. New York has already filled the void left behind by Walker by adding Kodai Senga and Jose Quintana to the rotation.

Now, Walker will begin his next journey as a member of his former team’s fierce NL East rival.
