The Mets grabbed a much-needed win on Tuesday night, but BT still isn't very high on New York's ability to turn things around.
Mainly because he doesn't see a team that has shown an ability to build off of success.
"It's hard for me to take the Mets seriously for two reasons," BT said. "The first reason is before last night's game, not that one game changes everything positively or negatively, but hopefully it starts trending much better for the Mets, is that they have not handled prosperity.
"Every time they show a little bounce, a little energy, the walk-off wins, people are feeling good, you know, you get that chatter going…they take two steps back."
The Mets were thought to have righted the ship after a thrilling weekend against the Guardians, and a series win over the league-leading Rays before that, but since then, there have been more series losses to inferior teams like the Rockies and Cubs.
"It's the Tigers, it's the Reds, it's the Rockies the first time," BT said. "It's the Rockies this past weekend. Those are the checkpoints that they need to start passing."
