After hearing Kevin Durant talk about his Nets tenure during his introductory press conference with the Suns on Thursday, Boomer heard all he needed to hear to know who was really behind all of the discord in Brooklyn.
“We all know who is to blame. It’s Kyrie you gotta blame,” Boomer said.
“The Nets were not gonna give Kyrie a max extension…because of the three and a half years of crap that he put them through. So he then had to demand a trade to protect his future, so his Bird Rights would be traded with him, so some other dumbass organization would give him his contract with max money. And maybe that will be the Mavs, who knows.”
Gio was in agreement, and after hearing Durant talk about Irving’s trade request, it was clear that Durant had been planning to see things through with the Nets this season, but the latest installment of Irving drama led to Durant, and eventually the franchise, drastically changing course.
“It really was Kyrie that was the driving force of this total disaster,” Gio said. “James Harden didn’t want to play with Kyrie…and then Kyrie’s trade request, you heard Durant say it, ‘It was tough for me to stomach.’”
