Bruce Brown is back with the Nets after the restricted free agent re-signed with Brooklyn last week, and Brown made it clear that he is coming back to help win a title that he and the team believes it would have already claimed if health was on its side.
“If we were healthy, I think everybody knows what would've happened,” Brown said on Monday.
Brown, known for his defense, will compliment a Nets high-scoring offense led by Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. But after ripping through the Celtics in the first round of the postseason, Irving went down with an ankle injury in the second round against the Bucks, while Harden tried to play through a hamstring injury that clearly limited him throughout the series.
Brooklyn wound up losing in seven games to the eventual champs.
“Really, this year, try to be healthy, continue to have the same mindset going through each game and throughout the season, and eventually win this thing,” Brown said.
Brown and the Nets will enter next season with unfinished business, looking to claim what they thought would be theirs if they were at full strength.
“I was real salty all summer, I’m gonna be honest,” Brown said. “I didn’t watch no basketball. I was just pissed that we lost. I just can’t wait to get back there and then win. I didn’t sleep the night after the game at all. I went and tried to golf the next day, which was a terrible decision. So yeah, I just can’t wait to get back.”
