Kevin Durant is now a goner, shipped out to Phoenix just days after Kyrie Irving was dealt to the Mavericks, blowing up what remained of the Nets' superstar core.
For Gio, the rapid succession trade requests highlighted what everybody hates about the current state of the NBA, and Durant is front and center of it all.
"These two guys are what people are turned off by the NBA," Gio said. "Turned off by superstars in sports because of this behavior. These guys suck. Every single decision that they made sucks, the way they handle themselves suck. They're babies.
"And Kevin Durant was supposed to be above all of that. But instead he goes to the offseason and requests a trade that doesn't work out, that threatens to fire the general manager and the and the coach at the time. And then at the trade deadline when Kyrie is gone, says 'no, I'm gonna bail too.'"
Durant has already won multiple titles, but Gio says the future Hall of Famer will be more remembered for wanting out of multiple franchises, joining a superteam in Golden State, and failing to start his own in Brooklyn.
"This guy he claims doesn't care about his legacy," Gio said. "His legacy is completely shot to me at this point, even if he goes and wins a championship with the Suns, people are gonna remember him from bailing and bouncing around and failing. All of these things that have been following him in his career more than anything."
