The Brooklyn Nets have quickly lost two players at the outset of free agency.
According to Woj, Brooklyn declined to offer guard Chris Chiozza the qualifying offer, so he comes a free agent, and per Malika Andrews, Jeff Green’s agent, Jason Glushon, confirmed that the forward/center has agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, including a player option in the second year.
Green, 34, joined Brooklyn last season, and averaged 11.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in 68 games, starting 38. He also appeared in six playoff tilts for the Nets, averaging 10 points and 3.3 boards in four games in the Milwaukee series after struggling against the Celtics.
Denver will be Green’s 11th team, as he has also played for Seattle/Oklahoma City, Boston, Memphis, Cleveland, Washington, Orlando, Utah, Houston, and the Clippers.
Chiozza, 25, spent part of 2019-20 and all of 2020-21 with the Nets. He appeared in 40 games, starting three, and averaged 5.1 points and 3.0 assists.
The Nets may be able to offset Green’s loss, as Otto Porter Jr. reportedly prefers Brooklyn as his destination in free agency, and could slide into Green’s role.
