Ben Simmons sidelined again with knee soreness, 'zero' thought to shutting him down for season

Ben Simmons was not in the Nets lineup for Friday night's embarrassing blowout loss to the Bulls, and he won't be back for Sunday afternoon's game against the Hawks.

Head coach Jacque Vaughn told reporters on Friday that the oft-injured Simmons reported knee soreness after practice, thus leading to the decision to hold him out of Friday's game. Simmons, who has already missed multiple games with knee soreness, is now in a "strengthening phase" with his knee, and will miss at least two games.

Simmons recently had his knee drained, and hasn't seemed 100 percent since being traded to Brooklyn. The Nets aren't considering shutting Simmons down for the season, but injuries continue to pop up, and he has struggled to be efficient even when he is on the floor.

There is no timeline for Simmons' recovery, but there is "zero" thought to shelving him for the season, according to Vaughn.
