The Nets have often been viewed as a little brother to the Knicks within New York City, even with the Knick’s sparing success in recent decades, but Brooklyn is now soaring in popularity with its new superstar trio.
The NBA released its top sellers in merchandise over the first half of the season, and the Nets sold the second-most team merchandise in all of the NBA, behind only the Lakers. The Nets were ahead of the Warriors, Celtics and 76ers, respectively. The Knicks didn’t crack the top 10.
Brooklyn’s sales were unsurprisingly helped by its big three, with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden all ranking in the top 10 among the league’s most popular jerseys. Durant’s jersey was the third-highest seller in the NBA, behind only LeBron James and Luka Doncic, while Irving came in at sixth, and Harden ninth.
Last year, Durant’s jersey was fifth-best despite missing the entire season to recover from his Achilles injury, while Irving’s was the ninth-best jersey seller. At this time last year, the Nets had the 10th most popular team merchandise in the league.
Brooklyn resumes the second half of its season on Thursday night against the Celtics.
