Nets owner Joe Tsai announced on Friday that he and his wife Clara met with suspended Kyrie Irving on Thursday, and is convinced Irving does not have anti-Semitic beliefs after that was questioned when the star point guard wouldn’t answer such a question definitively to reporters before his suspension.

“Clara and I met with Kyrie and his family yesterday,” Tsai tweeted. “We spent quality time to understand each other and it’s clear to me that Kyrie does not have any beliefs of hate towards Jewish people or any group. The Nets and Kyrie, together with the NBA and NBPA, are working constructively toward a process of forgiveness, healing and education.”
Irving was suspended by the team for no less than five games, and was reportedly given a list of requirements that he had to satisfy before returning to play, including meeting with Jewish leaders in the community. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Irving could be “in position” to return from his suspension on Sunday against the Lakers or Tuesday against the Kings.
Per Wojnarowski, Irving has met with the Nets, the league, and he NBPA on “several occasions” in recent days.
