Gregg Giannotti has been doing his "down under" voice ever since a Moment of the Day where he lampooned an Australian television presenter being unable to pronounce Giannis Antetokounmpo's name – and has since co-opted that impression to Nets GM Sean Marks.
Well, when Marks joined Moose & Maggie to talk Nets playoffs on Friday, Maggie had to ask if Marks had heard Gio's impression, and used part of this clip of Gio as Marks talking Evan Roberts down off the ledge after the James Harden trade:
Marks' reaction?
"I thought that was me! Are you sure that was him?" the GM laughed. "I'm glad he can have some fun with it."
Of course, neither Evan nor Marks feel the same way about that trade now.
"As hard as that Harden trade was, giving up players and picks we valued, I don't think any of us look back and question it, and James has been a terrific addition to our group," Marks said. "We have a window here we have to try to maximize. You have t get lucky with health and hope all the pieces fit and you made the right decision, but everything James has brought to our group so far is exciting. He's a fun guy to have around."
Evan Roberts says he won't apologize for his initial reaction until he's at the Nets' championship parade - so what would Marks say to Evan now?
"I would put my best New Zealand accent on and reiterate what I just heard!"
