Jerry: Rangers have most passionate fanbase in New York sports

As the Rangers get set to meet the hated Devils in the first round of the NHL playoffs, Jerry Recco says the Blueshirts boast the most spirited and dedicated fanbase of any in New York, and of any he has ever seen.

"I would say the Ranger fan has been the most passionate fan of my lifetime," Gio said. "More so than the Jet fan, Giant fan, Devil fan, Islander fan, Yankees, Mets. The Ranger fan, to me, is second to none. I've always thought that."

Gio was surprised by the answer, but acknowledged the hardcore fans that the Rangers have in their corner and at The Garden every night. But for him, perhaps because of how frequently he converses with their fans, it's the Mets.

"They're up there," Gio said of the Rangers. "Maybe because there's just many more of them in my life, but the one I'd say for me is the Met fan…I always felt like the Met fan was always the one, no matter how many times you got punched in the face, they come crawling back for more."

Jerry pointed to the crowds at games, regardless of the season, as to why the Rangers fan would have the bragging rights over the Met fan.

"When you look at the arena and the attendance, I feel like the Ranger fan is there through thick and thin," Jerry said. "If the team isn't good, The Garden is still full and they're still into their team. if the Mets aren't good, Citi Field is going to have 12,000 people there."
