Rangers adress backup goalie need, sign Jaroslav Halak: Report

The Rangers have reportedly signed their new backup to Igor Shesterkin, adding veteran netminder Jaroslav Halak to a one-year deal worth $1.55 million, according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post.

The signing addresses an area of need for New York, which had recently dealt away Alexander Georgiev to the defending champion Avalanche last week.

Halak, 37, appeared in 17 games with the Canucks last season and posted a .903 save percentage and holds a career save percentage of .916 in 16 seasons. He spent three years with the Islanders from 2014 to 2018.
