Rutgers lacrosse team's ranked matchup delayed after Scarlet Knights forget their jerseys in NJ

The Rutgers men's lacrosse team was scheduled to take on Loyola on Saturday afternoon, in a contest that was supposed to be streamed by ESPN.

Instead, the game was delayed over an hour and the game was removed from ESPN's scheduling.

The reason? The Scarlet Knights made the trip to Maryland without their jerseys.

The game was originally set for noon before Loyola (ranked 19th in the nation), announced that the game would actually begin at 1:15 p.m., and would no longer be broadcast on ESPN+. After some brief confusion among lacrosse fans, Patrick Stevens of USA Lacrosse Magazine cleared things up by revealing that the delay was because Rutgers had left their jerseys behind in Piscataway.

"The uniforms were expected to arrive at the Ridley Athletic Complex around 12:45 p.m. after making the 170-mile trip from Piscataway, N.J.," Stevens wrote. "Rutgers had players shooting on the field well before the scheduled noon start, and the team began more structured warmups while wearing white hoodies at about 12:15.

"Rutgers' goalies emerged from the locker room clad in the team's black jerseys at about 12:55 p.m., 20 minutes before the rescheduled 1:15 p.m. faceoff."

The mishap didn't seem to bother the fifth-ranked Scarlet Knights, who stayed undefeated on the season with a 13-12 victory, the program's first-ever road win at Loyola.
