Baker Mayfield appears to be reaching his potential as he looked every bit like the No. 1 overall pick the Cleveland Browns envisioned him to be with his performance on Sunday against the Titans.
Of course, Mayfield's success has come without star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., which the Fox Sports provocateur made sure to point out on Sunday as the 25-year-old quarterback was having a career day.
"In the 5 games after Odell was lost, Baker graded the 5th best QB in the NFL," Bayless tweeted. "That probably will improve after today. No coincidence. Baker got too Odell-centric. Too hard to keep him AND Jarvis happy AND spread the ball. Not anymore."
Mayfield tied a franchise-record four passing touchdowns in the first half on Sunday, connecting with four different receivers. By the end of the third quarter, Mayfield completed a pass to nine different players on the offense. So, there is certainly some truth to him spreading the ball around without Beckham.
This is not a new topic, either. After Beckham went down, both Mayfield and head coach Kevin Stefanski were asked about this possibility, which they both denied.
Naturally, the comments from Bayless in addition to Mayfield's performance led to Browns fans also chiming in on whether or not their franchise quarterback is better off without his star receiver.
Odell tears his ACL and Baker turns into Aaron Rodgers 🙄

Also this browns team has Zero reason to keep Odell, trade him.

Although not all fans were in agreement. Others responded that Beckham will only make the offense that much better.
Old Man Skip that is a foolish statement! Having more all star players on that field with you is definitely a positive! Defenses must focus on O'Dell! Wait until playoff time! Archive this tweet! @ShannonSharpe @JennyTaft @JoyTaylorTalks
