The boos for Aaron Hicks are growing louder in the Bronx after the struggling outfielder labored through another hitless night on Monday, hearing it from the home crowd every time he made the long journey back to the dugout.

Hicks is now 1-for-7 on the season after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Monday’s loss, his second start of the season over the first five games.

Aaron Boone, who pulled Hicks from a game last August because of his struggles coupled with the loud boos from the fans at Yankee Stadium, says Hicks is handling it like a pro.

“Fine. Obviously it's not the greatest reaction, but you gotta deal with it,” Boone said. “Fight through it. I don't think it had any effect on him. I thought he made a good play running to the foul line tonight on a ball that was coming back. Had some competitive at-bats but just nothing to show for it. I think he's handling it fine.”

Hicks has voiced frustration with his current role, but he hasn’t done much of anything to show he is deserving of more playing time, and with the way Yankee fans react to his every at-bat, it may be best for both sides to find Hicks a new home.
