Aaron Judge not in Yankees lineup as team awaits diagnosis on injured toe

UPDATE: On his latest appearance with Jomboy Media's Talkin' Yanks, Aaron Boone said Judge would not be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, but the team was still awaiting a diagnosis to determine whether an IL stint is necessary.

Aaron Judge was not in the Yankees’ lineup on Sunday night, nursing a sore big toe on his right foot after it took the brunt of the collision with the outfield fence during his incredible running catch the night before.

Aaron Boone told reporters before the game that Judge might be an option off the bench in Sunday’s series finale, but after the Bombers victory, the outlook for Judge seemed a bit more ominous, as Judge told reporters he would undergo X-rays and possibly an MRI when the team returned to New York.

Asked if he believed his toe was broken, Judge didn’t want to say anything for sure.

“It's tough to say,” Judge said, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. “I've never broken a toe, so we'll see. We'll see what the tests say. I don't want to throw anything out there just yet.”

Asked if he was worried about going back on the IL after recently returning from a hip injury, Judge again didn’t want to say anything with certainty as he awaits the results of his testing.

“If I’m on it, I’m on it, but I'm trying not to be,” Judge said, via Erik Boland of Newsday. “Who knows?”
