Aaron Judge still not feeling 100 percent due to mysterious dizziness

Aaron Judge didn’t seem to have any lingering effects of dizziness when he rocked a game-tying, three-run home run against the Twins on Monday afternoon, but the Yankee slugger still isn’t feeling completely back to normal.

“I feel better,” Judge said after Monday’s win. “Not 100 percent, but I’m not too concerned about it.”

Judge needed to step out of the batter’s box on Sunday night to receive eye drops before striking out against Carlos Carrasco, and after striking out a second time, he was removed from the game with dizziness. He was back in the lineup the next day, still uncertain of what brought on the symptoms that caused him to miss most of Sunday’s crucial series finale against the Mets.

“It just kind of came out of nowhere,” Judge said Monday. “I got my bell rung a couple times playing football, that’s kind of what it felt like. I was kind of hoping it would pass, so I kept trying to beg and plead to stay in the game, let me finish it out, but I’m feeling better today, and hopefully the next day.”

Aaron Boone said there was no hesitation to put Judge in Monday’s lineup once Judge said he was feeling better, and finished the day 1-for-3 with a walk and that big home run. Judge and the Yankees don’t know what brought on the dizziness, so they’ll have to hope it disappears as mysteriously as it arrived, as Judge has been the most productive bat in the lineup this year, and the Yanks will need him to finish off a run to the playoffs.

But for now, the mystery remains.

“Hydration was fine,” Judge said. “We checked all that and the vitals, everything was good, so we really don’t know what it is. I’m just thankful to be feeling better today, and hopefully feel better tomorrow.”
