After Aaron Judge put up another heroic performance on Monday night, smashing two home runs and robbing another, Gio wanted to share a debate he had with Jerry now that Boomer was back in studio.
Is Judge the greatest New York baseball player of their lifetime?
Keeping the focus on position players, Gio says Judge just might be the pick.
“A-Rod would be a guy that you put him there, but I’d give the nod to Judge because he’s done it clean,” Gio said. “If you go pure playing ability, I still think Aaron Judge has an advantage here.”
Boomer’s lifetime goes back a bit longer than Gio’s but even he had trouble thinking of a player that he would put ahead of what Judge has done since 2017. He couldn’t say for sure that Judge is the greatest, but he listed some candidates that would be the top competition, and it’s hard to say any of them would get the nod over Judge.
“You got Jeter, you got A-Rod, you got Mattingly…Piazza, David Wright, Darryl Strawberry, Gary Carter, Keith Hernandez,” Boomer said.
