Anthony Volpe once again shined at the plate, in the field, and on the bases on Wednesday, while Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner looked on.
BT says Steinbrenner’s up-close look, and Volpe’s season as a whole, should be all the evidence the Yankees owner needs to promote the franchise’s top prospect.
“Triple-A used to matter when we were growing up. Triple-A doesn’t matter anymore,” BT said. “I think he’s ready, and every time I watch him play, he looks so intelligent and so advanced.”
Volpe has a 1.126 OPS with two home runs this spring, but BT says that doesn’t tell the whole story as to why he deserves to start the season in the majors, despite only a handful of Triple-A games under his belt.
“Anybody can regurgitate stats,” BT said. “The kid is ready.”
