Tiki and Tierney illustrated how much the Yankee offense has struggled without Aaron Judge, mainly the bats that were expected to be Judge’s main support, like Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton, DJ LeMahieu, and Gleyber Torres.
Still, the Yanks have managed to win a few games thanks to the likes of Willie Calhoun, which BT says only highlights the fact that Cashman is only at his best when he’s finding diamonds in the rough to fix his own mistakes.
“Cashman’s best trait is finding guys that can fill out the roster that he messed up from the get-go,” BT said. “What is your best characteristic? ‘I am incredibly good at fixing my own mess, sir. Am I hired?’ That’s Brian Cashman’s best trait. Think about that. ‘That’s what I do best, I fix my mistakes.’”
Cashman has had some brilliant finds in years past, from Didi Gregorius to Luke Voit and Gio Urshela. But Stanton has been injury prone, Josh Donaldson has been a flop, and the Yanks have not been able to find enough pieces to put around Judge for the long haul, instead trying to catch more lightning in a bottle to make up for injuries, hence the Calhoun addition, or Rougned Odor, Mike Tauchman, and on down the list.
