Amid reports that the Yankees are likely done this offseason, save for adding bullpen pieces, BT says the Bombers have enough to finally end their painful pennant drought.
“I think the Yankees are the best team in the American League right now. No question about it,” BT said. “I also think [the league] is a little weaker than it’s been historically…the Yankees have gotten a lot better.”
BT said just adding Marcus Stroman is disappointing for a rotation filled with question marks, but the trade deadline will be there as a resource come July.
“That’s fine. The operative phrasing is ‘this winter,’” BT said. “I would be slightly disappointed that there wasn’t another addition…it would represent a different approach from the Yankees than I was hoping for. But it’s also not over.
“The trade market is gonna be incredibly robust…I think the Yankees enter the season with enough there now to start well. If Rodon truly is the stiff that pithed last year…then they quickly pivot in season and make a trade.”
Carlos Rodon is the rotation’s biggest question mark, but if he can return to his 2022 form, BT would be even more confident that the Yanks will finally be back in the World Series.
“If he is at his best, I believe the Yankees are a 100-win team,” BT said. “And I truly believe the Yankees are back in the World Series for the first time in 15 years.”
