The Yankees have plenty of blame to go around when it comes to their current roster, as the Bombers are now tied for last place in the AL East, but C-Mac wanted to focus on the slumping Anthony Rizzo during Monday’s show.
“Anthony Rizzo is atrocious right now,” C-Mac said. “He is absolutely killing them…up and down the lineup, the same crap and the same inability to come up with the big hits in the big moments.
“I did not see this coming. There is no reason Anthony Rizzo should not be any sort of a threat at the plate right now…this guy is awful now. He does absolutely nothing for them.”
Rizzo looked like an All-Star through the first two months of the season, batting .304 with an .880 OPS through the end of May. Since then, he is posting a putrid .503 OPS while batting .168 over his last 34 games, and hasn’t had a multi-hit game since June 20.
Of course, Rizzo isn’t the only culprit when it comes to veteran bats struggling in the Yankee lineup.
“It’s atrocious. It is unbelievably bad,” Rizzo said. “They don’t work counts, they don’t have good at-bats…it is embarrassing what’s going on.”
