Jerry: This could be Yankees year, but if it's not, time to 'blow it up'

Jerry Recco believes that 2023 could be the year where things finally come together for the Yankees in October, but if it doesn’t, the team has to make big changes to its roster.

“If it’s not, what are you waiting for? You gotta blow it up, don’t you?” Jerry said. “If you don’t win this year, don’t you think outside of Judge - when I say blow it up, I mean make substantial changes around your stars.”

Gio doesn’t buy that for a second, as the front office seemingly has made it clear that they are satisfied with just getting into the playoffs, and hoping the parity of the postseason falls in their favor once it begins.

“You hear Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner,” Gio said. “If they make the playoffs again, they’re going to bring everybody back again. The only way they don’t is if they completely fall out of it.”

The Yankees will need a lot to go right to get over the hump this year, particularly staying healthy, but Jerry can see this finally being the year for the Bombers.

“If in September they’re right and healthy heading into the postseason, I think they have every chance to be the team to beat in October,” Jerry said. “And I think this year could be the year.”
