Joey Gallo has rediscovered his home run stroke since making his debut with the Twins, and he showed off his power swing against his former team on Monday night.
Gallo crushed his sixth home run of the season off Greg Weissert in the bottom of the fourth inning, giving Minnesota a 4-0 lead over the Yankees, adding further insult to a Bronx Bombers team that has lost themselves offensively.
Gallo, whose Yankees tenure was infamously awful, hit .159 in pinstripes before being traded prior to last year’s deadline. He didn’t fare much better with the Dodgers, but he has found something with the Twins, and Yankee fans weren’t happy to see a player they watched strike out regularly take their team deep.
The home run was a no-doubter, traveling 432 feet and coming off the bat at 110.6 mph.
