Keith won't be sold on Yankees rotation without another 'frontline starter'

Both Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes showed encouraging signs in their spring training debuts for the Yankees, giving hope that New York’s rotation will be better off than it was last season.

Still, Keith believes another move has to be made for the Bombers to truly be in contention to end their World Series drought.

“You can’t sell me on this Yankees rotation without telling me that they need another frontline starter,” Keith said. “Go ahead and trade for Dylan Cease. Go ahead and trade for whoever it is.

“You need a 1A and a 1B if you think you’re winning the World Series. You need a game one and game two starter that’s a lock if you think you’re gonna advance to the World Series.”

Keith doesn’t believe the Yankees are signing Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery, so acquiring a starter would likely have to be done via trade. But Keith would have his limits if he were in Brian Cashman’s shoes.

“But Spencer Jones is off limits,” Keith said of the hyped Yankee prospect that blasted a 470-foot home run over the weekend. “Spencer Jones isn’t going anywhere.”
