Report: Yankees agree to deal with LHP Justin Wilson

As reported by WFAN’s Sweeny Murti, the New York Yankees have agreed to a deal with free agent lefty reliever Justin Wilson. The move is pending a physical and no terms were reported, though RADIO.COM Sports MLB insider Jon Heyman says it is indeed an MLB deal.

Wilson, 33, pitched for the Yankees in 2015, acquired from the Pirates for Francisco Cervelli after spending his first three seasons in Pittsburgh. He went 5-0 with a 3.10 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 61 innings that season, but was dealt to Detroit for Luis Cessa and Chad Green.

After splitting the next three years between the Tigers and Cubs, Wilson signed a two-year deal with the Mets prior to 2019. Over those two seasons, Wilson was 6-3 with a 2.91 ERA, four saves, and 67 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings across 68 appearances.

For his career, Wilson has a 3.27 ERA in 10 seasons with five teams, and he now returns to the Bronx, where he is penciled into a bullpen that also contains the two pitchers he was traded for back in December 2016.
