Sal can’t believe the Yankees actually got a trade done for Juan Soto, but he has a warning for fans that called in to celebrate and troll him a bit on Thursday.
“This move doesn’t put the Yankees over the top,” Sal said. “At the moment, it is a great trade because it was one the Yankees had to make…however, it doesn’t mean they’re gonna win squat.”
Sal wondered what happened to the Yankee fans that were celebrating the Giancarlo Stanton trade six years ago, and used it as a cautious reminder that sometimes things don’t work out how you envision it.
“While it’s exciting, and while we’re all looking forward to watching Aaron Judge and Juan Soto in the same lineup together, and while it’s gonna be fun to root for your Yankees or hate against the Yankees if you’re a Mets fan…it doesn’t mean the Yankees are going to win,” Sal said. “The Padres had a more loaded lineup than the Yankees, and they didn’t win squat.”
