Sal wonders if Giancarlo Stanton is 'washed up' after another hitless night: 'You can't have this'

The Yankees couldn’t get any offense going in a 2-1 loss to the putrid A’s on Tuesday night, while Giancarlo Stanton went 0-for-4 to drop hit batting average to .184.

Simply put, Sal says the Yanks need a lot more from their veteran slugger, who holds a lowly .621 OPS and has looked lost since his return from the IL.

“He’s been terrible. He’s killing this team,” Sal said. “Without Aaron Judge, you need Giancarlo Stanton to perform like Giancarlo Stanton used to perform.”

Stanton, 33, typically takes extended time after an IL stint to get his timing back, but with the Yankees posting some of the worst offensive numbers in baseball since Judge went down, Sal says that process needs to be over already, unless this is just a sign of Stanton’s offensive decline.

“You can’t have this!” Sal said. “What is the issue? Is he washed up? What’s going on with Giancarlo?

“You know you’re screwed when Josh Donaldson is the only guy providing offense.”
