Tierney: Aaron Judge not agreeing to Yankees offer is 'foolishness'

Aaron Judge has turned down a seven-year offer worth nearly $230 million, as he will test the free agency waters after the season in search of a greater payday.

Tierney can’t believe the decision.

“There is calculated risk and then there is foolishness,” Tierney said during Friday’s show. “To me, this would fall into category No. 2. He needs to sign this deal.”

Judge is indeed betting on himself after turning down the extension offer, but Tierney believes given his history, it may be too much of a gamble.

“Now the pressure on Aaron Judge is so ratcheted up,” BT said. “The first injury, if he doesn’t go or minimum 35 bombs, if he’s not top three in the MVP, you know what happens? I believe he does.

“Unless he has a monstrous season, which is possible, then he won’t see an offer this good again from the Yankees. I believe they would rescind that offer, then react to the injuries, a good season but not a great season.”
