The Yankees need a third baseman and the Pirates just happen to have a Gold Glover at the “hot corner”.
With the MLB trade deadline quickly approaching, Joe Starkey proposed a trade that would send Ke’Bryan Hayes and starting pitcher Mitch Keller to New York for their number 2 prospect, outfielder Spencer Jones.
“We’ll even thrown in a sweetener, they want (Isiah Kiner-Falefa), how about that Limits,” Starkey asked his producer Austin Bechtold.
“So, you’re going to trade three guys for one that hasn’t even debuted in the majors yet,” responded Bechtold. “If you make that trade, you are not getting enough back.”
But Starkey thinks that being able to get rid of Haye and his contract, for a 6-foot-7 slugger with 23 home runs in Double and Triple-A this year, in a deal that also includes Keller and IFK.
Limits believes the Pirates can get more from a deal that involves Hayes.
Starkey thinks getting rid of Hayes in a deal that involves the Yankee’s #2 prospect is a steal.
Hayes is under contract with Pittsburgh through 2030.
