Aaron Judge is now able to speak with all ballclubs as free agency is open, but he has had at least two conversations with Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner since the Bombers were swept out of the ALCS.
Steinbrenner revealed as much in a filmed interview with Meredith Marakovits of the YES Network, which will air on Yankees Hot Stove at 7:00 p.m. Monday night.
“I have had more than one conversation with Aaron since the season ended,” Steinbrenner said. “I’ll leave it at that. Very positive conversations.”
Asked if he is confident that the Yankees will be able to sign their superstar and record-setting home run hitter on a long-term deal, Steinbrenner reiterated what Brian Cashman has said each time he has been asked about Judge’s free agency.
Of course, it will become more clear as Judge receives offers, and how quickly the Yankees are to match or exceed them.
“I have made it clear to him that that is our wish,” Steinbrenner said. “He means a lot to this organization, and I’ve made it very clear to him that we’re gonna do everything we can to make that happen.”
