Gio doesn't see Yankees surviving Astros for longer than five games

The Yankees are back home with their two best pitchers lined up for games three and four of the ALCS, but Gio isn’t hopeful that the Bombers will be able to fight back and make this a long series.

“This might be recency bias…but it feels like they’re gonna lose this series in five,” Gio said. “I feel like they get one at home, and [Justin] Verlander comes back in game five on Monday, and that’ that.”

The first two games in Houston only confirmed to Gio that the Yankees are overmatched, and won’t be long in this ALCS, on their way to being bounced by the Astros from the playoffs for the fourth time since 2015.

“The Astros have been the better team for 80 percent of the year,” Gio said. “If the Yankees give everybody a reason to believe that things are different, then maybe we change our minds on that. But that hasn’t happened one bit.”
