The Yankees ran into a dizzying amount of baserunning outs in extra innings early Wednesday morning, leading to nine outs made despite logging just seven plate appearances in innings 10-12 of a 13-inning loss.
Needless to say, Brandon Tierney wasn’t too happy coming into the office on Wednesday.
“Zero runs, three hits, 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position, but the best part…the Yankees on the bases were beyond unprofessional,” BT said.
“Come on down, it’s the circus!”
Andrew Benintendi was picked off of second base in the 10th, before Miguel Andujar was doubled up at second an inning later after a line drive to second. In the 11th, a comebacker to the mound led to Jose Trevino getting caught between second and third, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa getting caught between first and second while breaking for second during Trevino’s pickle.
“Last night has to be rock bottom for the 2022 Yankees,” BT said. “It cannot get worse.
“I know you’re gonna lose, I know you’re gonna make errors. Baseball is hard…but to have the ghost runner erased in three straight innings is utterly unacceptable.”
