The Yankees made a big move on Tuesday, re-signing Anthony Rizzo to a multi-year deal, while Hal Steinbrenner told reporters that the team’s payroll will not stop them from going all in on bringing back Aaron Judge.

Meanwhile, the team has reportedly kept busy checking in on other notable free agents.

According to Jon Heyman, which he noted in his podcast “The Show” with Joel Sherman, New York has “reached out” to Brandon Nimmo, the Mets valuable center fielder who doesn’t have a clear fit in the Yankee outfield unless he moved to left field, since the Yanks traded for Harrison Bader last year, arguably the best defensive center fielder in the game.

Per Heyman, the Yanks have also “checked in” on star free agent shortstops Xander Bogaerts, Carlos Correa, and Trea Turner. With hyped prospects Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe on the way, there would have to be some infield shuffling to make those potential additions make sense, but there could be a move to third base, or a move to second for the Yankee youngsters, making Gleyber Torres expendable via trade.

The Yankees could also just be doing their due diligence, as Brian Cashman consistently tells reporters that he at least checks in on nearly every available free agent.
